Owls of the United States and Canada: A Complete Guide to Their Biology and Behavior Wayne Lynch

In this new book, wildlife photographer and author Wayne Lynch covers the life of the owls of Canada and the United States.

The about 240 pages of this big book contain a huge amount of useful and interesting information about the life of North American Owls. The eight chapters cover topics like the anatomy of an owl, how an owl copes with darkness, where owls life, what owls eat, their family life, predators of owls, the relationship between owls and humans and more.

The author also writes about the hearing and seeing abilities of owls and gives scientific information on how good an owl hears and sees. Readers will be surprised to learn that the senses of an owl are indeed very good but not as phenomenal as some may have thought.

The book is full with many great photographs of all North American owls. But Lynch is not only a very talented photographer but also a great writer. The text is easy to read and never boring. It was hard for me to put the book down.

Although the book covers the owls of North America, readers from other parts of the world will also find it interesting, as much that applies to the owls of North America is also valid for other owls. Readers from Europe might especially be interested in this book as several North Amercian species also occur in Europe (Snowy Owl, Short-eared Owl, Long-eared Owl, Great Grey Owl, Boreal Owl, Barn Owl, Northern Hawk Owl).

This is a must have book for anyone interested in owls.
